I sure love a good Friday list, so I’ll be trying my hand at creating a weekly list of my favorite, new wellness discoveries with a bit of unrelated goodness thrown in for good measure. Also, I realize today’s Thursday, but I got a little excited and am sending it in a day early this week!
-I’ve been really digging some of Yarrow Willard’s herbalist videos on YouTube! Yarrow and his wife own a Canadian herbal company, Harmonic Arts Botanical Dispensary, and have created dozens of enthusiastic and engaging videos about herbalism. The videos include everything from the basics of tea infusions and decoctions to foraging for pine pollen!
-If you’re not yet familiar with the Herbal Academy of New England’s blog, I highly suggest you give them a visit to learn more about herbalism and collect some project ideas!
-Are you familiar with the online and print health magazine, Pure Green Mag? It’s beautiful!
-I’m obsessed with anything that smells of almond extract, so when I came across Fig + Moss‘ all natural “Milk and Honey” body butter at the work/shop boutique here in Portland, I had to get it. The scent reminds me so much of the Puerto Rican birthday cakes of my youth, with its almond extract notes. It warms the cockles of my heart! I’m eager to try out more of their products.
-Fixer Upper’s most recent episode–a converted barn. My husband and I would sometimes pass an charming, old, neglected barn that looked about 100-years-old on our walks and I’d fantasize about asking the owners if I could buy it one day, have it moved onto our property and eventually convert it into a rental. Or move into it myself. I had no idea how much dilapidated barns go for these days, but a girl can dream. Anyway, the owners seemed kind of frightening, so I never got the gumption to walk up to their derelict home, knock on their door and ask about the possibility when I had no idea what the costs would entail and we certainly didn’t have the funds to renovate it, so I decided to wait on it. A few months passed and we walked by their house once more, and the barn had vanished. Simply freakin’ GONE. I wanted to cry. Had they torn it down? Had someone bolder come in and taken it away? Sigh. Well, Joanna and Chip Gaines fulfilled my wildest dreams in their most recent episode by turning an old 80s barn into a dream modern farmhouse. It was their best renovation yet, I think!…
