About Me: Hi, I’m Erica! I live outside of Portland, Oregon in an old farmhouse with my husband and spend my days cooking, concocting natural beauty elixirs, decorating and working on my home, and making my way through stacks of nutrition and herbalism books. I’m a graduate of Nutritional Therapy (holistic nutrition), herbalist apprentice, and assistant prop stylist with a background in journalism, marketing and non-profit work.
Elderflower Health is a place where I can share all the amazing information I’ve learned about herbalism, nutrition, natural beauty, as well as grain-free, paleo and gluten-free recipes. I also try to incorporate an Ayurvedic approach to my food and lifestyle choices. After struggling with a long bout of debilitating fatigue and other complex health issues that made it difficult to work and lead a normal life, I can empathize with how frustrating it is to figure out what’s wreaking havoc on your body and what to do about it. I have struggled (or am actively struggling) with chronic fatigue, mercury toxicity, detoxification and genetic issues (the MTFHR gene mutation can cause a world of problems–if you have health problems, you should read up on it!), food and chemical sensitivities, chronic bloating, mood issues, SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and more. It’s been a long journey, but healing requires much patience and often more time than we’re accustomed to in our frenzied, American lives. I’m glad to report that all the research, tears, dietary experimentations, supplements and appointments are paying off, and I’m definitely on the up and up! Hopefully, I can use everything I’ve learned along the way to help you on your own personal journey to wellness!
